Tap and Hold to Pause: While you are watching a Reel, simply pause the Reel by tapping and holding your finger on the screen.
- Open the Instagram app on your phone.
- Browse and find the reel you want to pause
- Tao and Hold on to the screen and this will pause the video at the viewing frame.
- Keep on tapping until you get to the part that you want to pause.
- Release the tap for the reel to continue playing.
Note: you need to keep holding the screen because if you tap once and leave it will mute the video. It will not pause the video on doing so.

Pause Instagram Reels By downloading
Pausing of reels can also be done by downloading reels on your phone. Now some reels can be downloaded from the Instagram app only, but some reels need a third-party website to download the reels. Here you can pause the video at any frame and also have it for offline use.
